Homosexuals and marriage

Spain might be a tiny country, compared to the size of the United States. But Americans are really pissed off everytime our new government makes a decision they may not like.
It happened when Zapatero pulled out the troops from Iraq, and it just happened again now the bill allowing gays to get married is about to be passed.

This is an e-mail somebody named "mdman1972" sent to all the Ofices of Tourism of Spain here in the United States:

" I just wanted to let you know that if Spain passes this law legalizing gay marriage, there will be a major boycott on tourism to Spain. I myself had hoped to take a vacation with my family to Spain but now I won't. Why should anyone want to visit a country that says homosexuals can be married? That's perverted and wrong. So here's what I say: let these gays get married but lose potentially millions, if not billions in pesos. It doesn't bother me but perhaps it should bother you. Why should we go to a disgusting country? Pass this on to the members of the parliament, especially the socialists who don't believe in God. "

And this is the e-mail I sent him back:

" Dear mdman1972,

I am Spaniard and I'm sorry to hear that you are planning to cancel your vacations to Spain. Eventually, thousands of homosexuals all over the world will be happy to come instead. I am also sorry to hear that you think this bill we are just about to pass is "disgusting", and that Spain is a "disgusting country". Everybody is entitled to express their own opinion, as long as it is expressed with respect.

I am not homosexual, but some of my friends are. And I am really proud of my government to propose a law that equals the right to get married to everyone. I think marriage is a human right, not an heterosexual benefit, and it does not have anything to do with God.

By the way, two things: a lot of Socialists in Spain believe in God. And sorry, you are not going to be able to use pesos in Spain. We used to have pesetas before 2002. And now we use Euros.

Sincerely,
A man of Peace "
